Argument three -Video

Argument 3: If we all had the same morals, everyone would feel equal.

We were looking on two different computers and then decided that we were better looking off one computer because we got too easily distracted. Then we decided that we actually got a lot more work done on two computers so we switched back. We looked for videos about the agreement on youtube for 45 minutes. Then we found several ones and finally Emma and Mariana found a video that was inappropriate so we asked Mr. Rudnicki if it was okay and he said no. Then we all looked on that computer Emma and Mariana were on and found this video. We had a long discussion because Emma and Mariana first thought it went with the third argument and Aleksi and Paulius thought it went better with the first. Then Mariana explained to Aleksi why she  thought it fit better and Aleksi explained Mariana why he thought argument one was better. Then Aleksi switched sides and so did Mariana. So Mariana and Paulius were on one side, they believed it related more to the first argument, and Aleksi and Emma were on the other. Then Paulius joined Emma and Aleksi’s side so Mariana was left on the one side. Emma explained to Mariana why she thought it should be with argument three. Finally Mariana changed her opinion and she agreed with the rest. 

We think this video represents the opposite of equality with many symbols throughout the whole video.  First, we think that 'the button' represents how he is in control of everyone and that he makes all the decisions. The big flag in the back shows that he has the power to rule the nation. Another symbol were his words. He said "do you know who you're dealing with?". We think this means that he feels superior to the person he is talking on the phone with. In relation to the phone call we thought his tone, the loudness showed how since he believes he is much higher than everyone else he can be rude. The laughing was represented as someone who has power and who wins.  This relates to equality because if he felt equal he would not have destroyed a fourth of the world. Another reason we believe it relates to equality was because of his laugh. He thought that since he is so invincible to the rest then he has the right to be disrespectful and always get his way. This relates to peace because if he felt equal then he would respect other peoples' opinions or decisions. 

Argument 3 -Equality

If everyone had the same morals, everyone would feel equal.

To find this image, Emma and Mariana were looking on one computer and Paulius and Aleksi looked on the other. We Diigoed all the images and then looked for all the possibilities. We then discussed each image we found and broke it down to our top 3. From there we re discussed each image and looked at both pros and cons. Out of the three we discussed which of them we should eliminate. We had two photos one was this one and the other said that your morals are how you grow up. We could not decide which of these photos would be better because this talks more about feeling equal. This photo shows the exactly opposite. Due to the fact that the photos was exactly the opposite of our  point we had a debate whether this photo would work or not. We thought it might not work because it talked about money and we did not think it had anything to do with morality. Another thing we found interesting is that the guy who was moral was way less on this scale. If he had morals we thought he should be higher and the other guy should be low. 

In this photo, we first talked about that these two people are not equal to each other. First, one has a lot of money because he doesn't follow morals. Emma thought that this could also mean that he just worked a lot, so he just might have a lot of money, but then Mariana and Aleksi explained that then he would also be at the bottom because he would follow his morals. We saw that this picture showed that it's better to be a little poorer and have morals than be very rich and don't have any morals at all. This photo shows the difference between having financially stable and having good morals. Metaphorically, it shows that person with good morals is internally better but externally not appreciated. And the person with financial stability loses the internal "fight" but wins the most honor.

Argument 2 Respect

If everyone had the same morals people would understand each other better and therefore respect each other.

To find this image, we started out by looking on two separate computers, Aleksi and Paulius on one computer, Mariana and Emma looked on the other. We found several images for argument two on Friday. At each image we discussed which argument it would work with and why. Then we also looked at the con side of the image, and looked for a matching pro. On Tuesday we decided which picture we would choose. First we looked at all the pictures we bookmarked in Diigo. Then we discussed this picture and argued which argument this picture would fit with better. Paulius, Aleksi and Emma thought that this picture fitted better with argument 2, which explains that if everyone would have the same morals, we would respect each other. Mariana thought that this image would fit better with argument three, equality. After a long discussion, we decided to look for other images. We found one about the ten commandments, but decided that that image didn't work. We also didn't fully understand the image. We then went back to this image and discussed it once more. Finally Mariana looked at the picture in a different perspective and agreed with us. But she still saw the other side but thought this one would work better. 

In our opinion this image is about respect and different morals of different people. In this photo we see two people, the taxi driver is being disrespectful about a certain issue to the the customer. The customer is scared to speak back to the driver and in our opinion this means that the customer is thinking about showing respect to the issue but he frightened. We think this is the opposite of respect but it show that everyone would agree on one thing if they had the same morals. It also shows the juxtaposition between material and spiritual things. If the person (customer) only thinks about material things, which is money, then it disrespects the spiritual things like life, respect, understanding or tolerance. 

Argument 1: If we had the same morals we would come to an agreement

If people had the same morals then we would come to an agreement 

First, we decided to look for pictures that would symbolize people coming to an agreement. Aleksi and Paulius looked for pictures on one computer and Mariana and Emma looked for pictures on the other computer. We looked for pictures for all three arguments. All of us looked for pictures on Google. Whenever a group found one, we discussed the picture and asked ourselves if it relates to our definition of peace; morality. For every argument we found a few pictures. At the end, we looked through all pictures and discussed which one would be best relate to our arguments. We broke it down into our top 3 and then we discussed why a certain one worked better. We came up with lots of scenarios to make our point. By the end we came to an agreement and picked the one we liked best. We then discussed why we chose that photo again and made sure it was the right one. When we came in on Monday, May 13, we quickly looked at all the photos we came up with, just to double check. Finally we decided the one we chose was correct and we briefly rediscussed it.

This photo shows that even though you might disagree on the inside, to make a peaceful place you have to compromise and agree with majority. We believe that is the opposite of peace because you should be satisfyed portraying you feelings. You should not have to hide your feeling and be left inside with anger.  But, if we all had the same, good morals we would be happy with any decision. That is because everyone would believe the same thing and therefore everyone's needs would be achieved. People would also realize that whatever they want to change everyone else would want to change. Though if we had one supreme leader, there would not be as much chaos or protest because they would feel the same. This relates to our definition of peace because we believe to have a peaceful place you must have the same morals so that people could come to an agreement.
